Butler BlueSox News Release

Butler, PA - March 10, 2015 - The Butler BlueSox majority ownership group's buyout of the 40% minority interest was approved on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 by unanimous vote of the Prospect League's Board of Directors.

Perfect Game, LLC, a partnership comprised of local businessmen Matt Clement, Mike Fiorina, Gordon Marburger, Roger Snodgrass, and Wink Robinson have also welcomed Butler resident Larry Sassone as its new business partner. The six-member group successfully acquired the minority interest held by the City of Butler Parks Recreation Grounds and Facilities Authority (Stadium Authority).

Sassone, who serves as the BlueSox Director of Sales and Marketing, stepped forward and joined the existing Majority Owners to close the deal. Sassone and his wife, Terry Steighner, also serve as the Host Family Coordinators for the BlueSox.

"Larry's additional involvement with our group is a no-brainer," said Robinson. "He definitely bleeds BlueSox blue and has the passion to keep our positive momentum moving forward. Without question, this is a very, very positive development for the area and our ownership group."

The BlueSox came to Butler in the summer of 2009 under the leadership of Leo Trich, who sold his 60% majority interest to the local partnership following the 2010 season.

The upcoming season is the first year under a long term, 10-year lease entered into between the BlueSox and the Stadium Authority. "With the Prospect League possibly entering new markets in 2016, we are confident the BlueSox will gain more regional support to enable us to continue presenting a high quality, yet affordable, baseball experience for our fans," Robinson added.

The BlueSox open its 60 game, 2015 season on the road at Jamestown, New York on May 27. Kelly Automotive Park will host the home opener on the following evening, May 28, against perennial Prospect League powerhouse, the Chillicothe Paints.
