Orlando Solar Bears News Release
Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears announced today that they have agreed to terms with F Derrick Burnett and D Edward Levens.
Burnett has played in eight games with Orlando so far this year, collecting 14 PIM. The active-duty Air Force serviceman last appeared in a Solar Bears jersey on December 1, in Las Vegas. Burnett played four straight games with the Solar Bears from November 10 through November 18, helping Orlando to victories over the Elmira Jackals and Kalamazoo Wings during that span.
Levens has appeared in six games this season with the Solar Bears, earning one assist to go along with 18 penalty minutes. A resident of Clermont, Florida, Levens has dropped the gloves twice this season, going toe-to-toe with Gwinnett F Chris Clackson on November 7, and Kalamazoo F Harry Young on November 18.
"We are happy to have Levens and Burnett back on the roster, " said Drake Berehowsky, Head Coach of the Solar Bears. "Both have played hard for us when called upon."
The Solar Bears roster has been hit recently by a rash of injuries and recalls to many of the team's top forwards, F Nick Petersen (injury), F Ryan Ginand (injury), F Oliver Fortier (recall-Hamilton AHL) and F Rob Mignardi (recall-Houston AHL), as well as key defensemen Corbin Baldwin (injury) and Kyle Medvec (recall-Houston AHL).
