Burn Upsets D.C. to Earn Playoff Berth
June 16, 2003 - National Women's Football Association (NWFA)
Baltimore Burn News Release
The Baltimore Burn completed their 2003 regular season by defeating division rival D.C. Divas, 22-14. The Divas, who had clinched the Mid-Atlantic Division title a week earlier, were heavily favored to beat the Burn and finish the season with a perfect 8-0 record. But thanks to outstanding performances by QB Tara Watanathai, FB Julie Ciccarelli, WR Regina Nolan and a stingy Burn defense, the Burn finished 6-2 and earned a wild-card berth in the NWFA playoffs.
The Burn will take on the Cleveland Fusion on Saturday, June 28th in Cleveland in the first round of the NWFA playoffs.
