Burks Sinks Seven Threes as Vermont Rolls Past Boston

Burlington, Vt.-The Vermont Frost Heaves raced out to a 43-point first quarter and never looked back to notch their 30th victory of the season, a 144-98 defeat of the Boston Blizzard at Memorial Auditorium this afternoon.

Antonio Burks sank seven three-pointers for Vermont (30-4), the No. 1 team in the ABA Power Rankings, and wound up with 28 points. Issa Konare added 26 along with 12 rebounds, while Dokun Akingbade chipped in 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Tyrone Barley, a member of the Frost Heaves' ABA Champions last season, played 27 minutes in his first action since being signed on Thursday. He contributed six points and six assists,

Former University of Vermont star Germain Mopa-Njila logged eight minutes as the Northfield Savings Bank Community All-Star, picking up seven points and four rebounds for the Frost Heaves.

Anis Taylor scored 42 points for Boston (8-17), while Charles Easterling added 30.

Tomorrow afternoon at Memorial Auditorium against Quebec, the Frost Heaves thank their supporters on Fan Appreciation Day with a special giveaway. Please note that tip-off is at 4:05 p.m., not 2:05 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door beginning one hour before tip-off.

Tickets will go on general sale on Saturday, March 8, for ABA All-Star Weekend at the Aud in Barre, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22. In addition, the Frost Heaves will play an intersectional game with the Atlanta Vision on Wednesday, March 19, also in Barre.
