Burgos Jersey Wraps Up Auction Series

Burlington, IA (January 25, 2007) "" The on-line auction for Ambiorix Burgos' game-worn and autographed gray road jersey from the 2004 season is open at milb.com. This is the final auction in the five-jersey series that started in December. Fans can place bids for this one-of-a-kind piece of Bees history by going to the "Auction" page at www.milb.com or by following the links on the front page of the Bees website at www.gobees.com. Bidding will close at noon ET on Wednesday, January 31st.

Burgos saved 18 games for Kansas City this year and was 4-5 with a 5.52 ERA over 73.1IP for the season. The hard-throwing righty pitched for the Bees in two games at the end of 2003 and spent the 2004 season in the starting rotation. In 27 games in "˜04, he was 7-11 with a 4.38 ERA for the Bees and struck out 172 batters in 133.2IP. That amazing total ranks him 6th on the Bees single-season strikeout list. Burgos made his Major League debut on April 23, 2005 with just 12 appearances in Double-A between his time with the Bees and his call-up. On December 6th, the Royals traded Burgos to the New York Mets for starter Brian Bannister. Burgos is expected to be in the Mets bullpen for the 2007 season.

The auction series started in December. Chris Lubanski's autographed road jersey from 2004 was the first on the block. Bidding closed on December 11th with a winning bid of $300. The auction for Luke Hochevar's autographed BP top from this past season closed on December 23rd with a winning bid of $261.76. Bidding closed on Mitch Maier's autographed game-worn road jersey from 2004 closed on January 12th with a winning bid of $211.76. The auction for Runelvys Hernandez autographed game-worn road jersey from 2001 closed on Wednesday with a winning bid of $150.
