
Bulls Sign Former NBDL Star for Remainder of Season

CHICAGO, January 28 â The Chicago Bulls announced it signed rookie Ronald Dupree to a contract for the remainder of the 2003-04 season. The rookie forward, who was playing in the National Basketball Development League for the Huntsville Flight, was originally signed by the Bulls to a 10-day contract on January 7, 2004, and to a second 10-day contract on January 17, 2004.
Dupree has appeared in 11 games for the Bulls, including five starting assignments, and is averaging 9.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.00 spg and 24.9 mpg and shooting .448 from the field and .625 from the free throw line. In his NBA debut at Miami (01/07/04), the 6-7, 209-pounder led the Bulls with team-highs of 18 points (7-11 FG, 4-4 FT) and 9 rebounds in 26 reserve minutes. He has reached double figures in scoring on five occasions and played 20+ minutes in eight of his 11 appearances.
Dupree joined Chicago after starring in 15 games with Huntsville. While with the Flight, he averaged a team-high 16.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.5 spg and 32.2 mpg, while shooting .556 from the floor and .763 from the free throw line. He is one of five NBDL players to receive the "Gatorade Callup" to the NBA this season.
