Durham Bulls News Release
(Louisville, KY) John Jaso's two-out error scored the winning run in the bottom of the 13th, as Durham settled for a split of a four-game series with Louisville, falling 7-6 on Sunday.
With two out in the 13th, Wes Bankston, a former Bull, walked against Jorge Julio (0-1). Julio wild pitched Bankston to second. Daniel Dorn hit grounder to the backhand side of Chris Richard at first, who knocked the ball into foul ground. Richard, who didn't have a play at first, picked up the ball and saw Bankston trying to score, and threw home to Jaso. Bankston bowled Jaso over and knocked the ball loose on what was scored Durham's fifth error of the night.
One night after a 16-inning win over Louisville, Durham had chances to win the game against the Bats. Durham was unable to score in the 12th or 13th against position players Michael Griffin and Luis Bolivar, who were forced to pitch due to the back-to-back marathons.
Durham sent the game to extras in the ninth on a Ray Olmedo single, but left the lead run at third as back-to-back strikeouts, two of 17 for Durham, ended the inning.
The Bulls (53-41) split the series with all four games decided by one run. Ray Sadler and Chris Richard homered for Durham. Richard and Elliot Johnson each had three of Durham's 13 hits. The Bulls now head to Indianapolis on Monday with LHP Carlos Hernandez on the mound. Coverage on 99.9 the Fan ESPN Radio begins at 6:55 with first pitch at 7 p.m.
