Kokomo Jackrabbits News Release
LISLE, ILL. - A consistent theme has been going through the Kokomo Jackrabbits in 2016.
It's about a sterling bullpen, and an 8-7 win over the DuPage Drones Sunday, June 12, added another chapter.
After the host Drones opened up a 5-2 lead after four frames, enter the trio of Butler University Sam Hubbe, Lock Haven University's Michael Anthony and the University of Missouri's Ryan Lee. They shut down the home side over their final five and third innings to the tune of just one earned run on five hits while striking out six. Meanwhile, the never-say-die Kokomo offense went to work, tallying two runs in the fifth and four runs in the seventh to take an 8-5 lead which held up through a final DuPage at-bat comeback of two scores.
Indiana University-Southeast's Clay Benefield and Wayne State University's Griffin Harms led the offensive attack of 11 hits with two hits each. Northwestern University's Jake Gabarino and IU-Southeast's Logan Barnes rapped out a pair of triples, too.
The Jackrabbits (9-7), moving just a half-game behind Prospect League Eastern Division leading Butler, return to Kokomo Municipal Stadium Tuesday, June 14. First pitch is 6:35 p.m. for the final night of the Princesses and Superheroes promotion which features a Baseball Moms and Dads Appreciation evening.
