Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Kirby Yates and Neil Schenk combined to pitch the final 3.2 scoreless innings for the Biscuits (51-43/15-11) and hold off the Mobile BayBears (52-44/12-14) in a 3-2 win to split the four-game series Tuesday afternoon at Riverwalk.

Due to a depleted Biscuits bullpen, Schenk, who threw an inning Monday night, was extended out to 2.2 innings in relief of starter Alex Colome (6-3). Schenk allowed two hits without allowing a run. Yates induced a game-ending fly ball from Chris Owings with the tying run on third to end the game. Yates picked up his ninth save of the season.

Colome only allowed two runs on three hits despite walking five over 5.1 innings to pick up his sixth win of the year.

Ryan Garko picked up the Biscuits first hit of the game with an RBI-double in the fourth inning to score Hak-Ju Lee and break a scoreless tie. Mobile scored a run in the fifth inning, but the Biscuits came back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-1 advantage.

The Biscuits will be in action again on Thursday night at Regions Park against the Birmingham Barons. LHP Kyle Lobstein will start for Montgomery while Birmingham will send RHP Matt Heidenreich to the mound. First pitch is slated for 7:05.
