March 3, 2016 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Brewster Bulldogs News Release

The Danbury Titans and Brewster Bulldogs went to overtime for the fourth time this season, and Frank Schumacher's second goal of the game just 48 seconds into overtime sealed the win for the Titans on Military Appreciation Night at the Danbury Ice Arena. Jan Salak netted his first hat trick as a Bulldog in the losing effort, while Danbury's Alex Vazzano made 26 saves for the win.

In the first period, Mike Driscoll was awarded the first penalty shot in Danbury Titans' history in the first period as he was hauled down on a breakaway. Driscoll went for the shot and Bulldogs' goaltender James Robbins was able to fend away the snap shot and keep the game deadlocked. Jan Salak would score twice, both on the power play, late in the period to give Brewster the lead. The goals would come only 28 seconds apart, and led to Brewster ending the period up by 2.

Jarrett Rush would get the Titans back into things less than a minute into the second period after corralling a bouncing puck in front and catching James Robbins out of position. Driscoll would finally get on the board himself to tie things up at the 12:35 mark, but Brett Hope would restore Brewster's lead 36 seconds later. Frank Schumacher would score his third of the season with a power play goal with under 5 minutes to go to knot things up again. Jan Salak would complete his hat trick with 1:50 remaining in the period to once again put Brewster on top.

Dean Yakura would score the only goal of the third period on the power play, assisted by Tim Richter and Brett Liscomb. James Robbins would make the save of the game towards the end of the period after laying prone on the ice by throwing his glove hand up in a prayer and denying the Titans a win in regulation. In overtime, Schumacher came up big again with an unassisted goal for his second of the game. Danbury improves to 7-3-1-4 against Brewster for the year, and 23-5-4-11 overall, keeping pace with the Danville Dashers and staying in second place in the FHL. The Danbury Titans will host the Bulldogs once again on Friday, March 4th, with a scheduled 7:35pm faceoff. For tickets and more information, contact the Danbury Titans by calling 844-DT-HOCKEY.
