
Bulldogs Drop Round 1 of the Battle of the Dogs

The Bulldogs dropped the first of six meetings with the Niagara IceDogs 6-3 on Thursday night in St. Catharines.
The Bulldogs got off to a good start as Matthew Strome (8) tipped one home on the power-play for a 1-0 lead at 12:07. The home town IceDogs got that one back :34 seconds later and then took a 2-1 lead before the end of the 1st period.
Niagara went ahead 3-1 early in the 2nd and then scored on the power-play to make it 4-1 before Brandon Saigeon scored late to cut the deficit to 4-2 at the end of 2 periods.
The IceDogs stopped the Bulldogs momentum with a goal early in the 3rd before DJ King scored his first OHL goal to cut the Niagara lead to 5-3 at 14:31. The scoring finished with the IceDogs finding the empty-net to make the final 6-3.
Niagara out-shot the Bulldogs 34-33.
Brandon Saigeon had a goal and two assists to extend his point streak to 13 games and now has been involved in the Bulldogs last six goals.
IceDogs goal scorers were Billy Constantinou (5), Ivan Lodnia (7), Ben Jones (8, 9), Oliver Castleman (5) and Kyen Sopa (10).
