Buffalo Stampede's Derick Payne Named PBL Player Of The Week
January 18, 2010 - Premier Basketball League (PBL)
Buffalo Stampede News Release
The Premier Basketball League is pleased to announce that Derick Payne, a 6'6" 220-pound power forward from Bowie State University, has been named PBL Player of the Week for the week ending January 17, 2010. This is the first time Payne has been honored for his achievements, and the first time a member of the Buffalo Stampede has earned this award since Tyrone Rayson in March 2009.
In a road victory against the Maryland GreenHawks, Payne earned 25 points on 9-for-17 shooting from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers, and helped spark the Stampede to a 124-114 road win, thus ending the franchise's 22 game PBL record losing streak.
This is Payne's second season with the Buffalo Stampede and third year as a player in the PBL; he previously suited up for the Maryland Nighthawks in the 2007-08 season.
