Budweiser Man of the Match: Matt Pickens Earns Fourth Clean Sheet of Season for Nashville SC
May 26, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Nashville SC News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Keeper Matt Pickens was voted the Budweiser Man of the Match for Nashville SC in the 0-0 draw with Indy Eleven on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. Pickens made three critical saves in the draw, keeping Indy off the scoreboard and earning Nashville SC a point.
It was Pickens' fourth clean sheet of the season, and second consecutive, in eight starts. Pickens has split time with keeper Connor Sparrow in net, but Pickens has continued his great form in a Nashville SC jersey after posting 14 clean sheets a season ago. Despite just eight starts, Pickens' four clean sheets ranks tied for the 7th-best total in the USL Championship.
With back-to-back clean sheets, Pickens and the Nashville SC defense have a 255 minute scores streak dating back to when Charlotte Independence scored in the 15' minute of a 1-1 draw last Saturday.
Pickens and Nashville SC will be back in action on Wednesday night against Charleston Battery in the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup in Murfreesboro, Tenn. at Hayes Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
