Bucktooth MLL Rookie of Week

Boston, MA (July 31, 2006) - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today that midfielder Brett Bucktooth has been named the MLL Rookie of the Week for his performance in Boston's 20-14 loss to the New Jersey Pride at Nickerson Field this past Saturday.

Bucktooth was the Cannons second leading scorer on the evening, scoring a hat-trick in the first-half and adding a fourth goal in the fourth quarter. He scored his four goals on just five shots.

Bucktooth has been impressive in the four games in which he has appeared for the Cannons this season. In that short time, Bucktooth has managed to score nine goals. He also has two assists for a total of eleven points on the season.

The Cannons selected Bucktooth with their second pick in the 2006 MLL Collegiate Draft, making him the 14th overall pick in the draft. Bucktooth is a 2006 graduate of Syracuse University. In his senior season at Syracuse, Bucktooth scored 35 goals while adding 18 assists.

This was Bucktooth's first game back with the Cannons following his participation in the Warrior World Lacrosse Games in Ontario, Canada as a member of the Iroquois Nationals. Bucktooth was named to the tournament's All-World Team.

The Cannons will play their final home game of the 2006 MLL season at Nickerson Field on Saturday, August 5th, versus the Baltimore Bayhawks. The Cannons will finish the season on the road when they travel to Rochester to take on the Rattlers on Saturday, August 12th.
