The Laredo Bucks announced today that they have traded the rights of forward Aaron Boogaard to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in exchange for future considerations. The Regina, Saskatchewan native signed with the Minnesota Wild organization and is expected to be assigned to the Killer Bees.
The forward played 53 games with Laredo during the 2010-11 season scoring two goals with five assists while accumulating 172 penalty minutes and a -25 plus/minus rating.
The transaction gives Boogaard the opportunity to reunite with his head coach from last season, Terry Ruskowski.
"Aaron went through tough times this summer and with great help from Jim Mill and the Minnesota Wild organization, he will be able to play this season," states Head Coach Serge Dube. "We, as the Bucks, are grateful for what they did and it is with regret that he will play for the Bees this season. After many discussions with the Bees and the Wild, we came to the agreement that it would be best for Aaron to play down in the Valley for his coach from last season Terry Ruskowski. It will be difficult to see him as part of our rival team, not just because he is a good tough player, but also because he is an extremely good person in the dressing room and in the community. I wish him nothing but the best this season- except against us!!!"
"We thank Aaron for all that he did for the organization last year," said General Manager Nicole Kupaks. "We are excited about the start to the 2011-12 season and what lies ahead for the Bucks team and fans this season."
The Bucks will host the Killer Bees this Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th. Call 718-BUCK to get your tickets today.
