LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League topped the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 3-2.

The Laredo Bucks faced their rivals the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees for the second straight day Saturday afternoon. The Bucks defeated the Bees Friday night 5-3.

The Killer Bees got on the board first, when Dan Gendur scored a powerplay goal at 7:19. However, the Bucks Matt Pierce tipped in a shot from Erik Boisvert at 11:11 in the first to tie the game 1-1. Neil Trimm also assisted on the goal. This is the second game in a row for Matt Pierce to light the lamp.

The Laredo Bucks owned the second period of play. The Bucks were knocking on the doorstep, but could not get the puck across the goal line. But that all changed at 11:09, when David Inman scored on a one-timer from Rusty Masters and Adam Rivet. Then Rusty Masters knocked in the rebound from Joseph Harcharik at 13:34, giving the Bucks a 3-1 lead. Laredo outshot Rio 10 to 4 in the frame.

The Bees tried to stage a comeback in the third period. Tomas Klempa scored a powerplay goal at 7:45 for the Bees, closing the gap to 3-2. The Laredo Bucks held on for the rest of the period, denying the Bees and taking home the win.
