Bucks Release Home Dates For 2004-05 CHL Campaign

LAREDO, Texas – The 2004 CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks and the Central Hockey League have released the home dates for the 2004-05 CHL regular season. The Bucks will host 30 CHL regular season games at the Laredo Entertainment Center during the upcoming season. The CHL has moved the start of the 60-game season back one week to better accommodate scheduling purposes. The regular season will span from late October to the third week of March with the CHL playoffs to follow. Currently the dates have been determined, but not the opponents.

The new schedule is highlighted by several dates. The Bucks home opener is set for Saturday, October 23rd at the LEC. The Bucks will raise the 2003-04 CHL President's Cup championship banner that night. The Bucks will host a pair of games on Thanksgiving weekend and once again the Bucks will host a New Years Eve game on December 31st.

This years Bucks schedule is loaded with weekend dates, 20 of the 30 home games will be played either on a Friday or Saturday. There are three Thursday games, five Wednesday games, one Thursday and one Sunday game on the schedule.

"Last year we didn't have as many weekend dates," said Bucks President John Beckelhymer. "This year we have 20 weekend games. We purposely avoided Friday nights early in the season to make sure we didn't interfere with high school football. We wanted to support high school athletics and we didn't want people to have to choose between football and hockey. We like the schedule that we have this year."

The Bucks are also announcing a change in the starting times for games. Tuesday-Thursday games will begin a half hour earlier at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday games will be played at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday games will take place at 2 p.m.

"We moved our weekday games up a half an hour to be parent friendly," said Bucks President John Beckelhymer. "By doing this, we allow families to come to the weeknight game and be able to get the kids home to bed earlier. Plus on Sunday we can fit around peoples schedules for mass."

There will be two weekday matinee games played this year by the Bucks that begin at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, November 16th and Wednesday, January 26th.

The Bucks will wear six specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off. Laredo will wear a Halloween jersey on October 30th, a Veterans Day jersey on November 11th, a Christmas jersey on December 17th, a New Years Eve jersey on December 31st, a Mardi Gras jersey on February 8th, and a St. Patrick's Day jersey on March 16th.

The CHL and the Bucks will announce the entire schedule, including opponents, next week.
