Bucks Players Win Tourney As Keggers

LAREDO, TX- Laredo Bucks players, along with front office staff members took first place in the Fifth Annual Alamo City Classic at the Northwoods Ice Center in San Antonio on Sunday (June 14th). The team, dubbed the Keggers, knocked off the three-time defending tournament champion Cankles 10-7 in the title game.

The Keggers will auction off the special tournament jersey's this Saturday (June 20th) at Reina's Ultra Lounge starting at 7pm, with all of the proceeds benefitting WINGS of Laredo.

The Keggers went 3-1 on the weekend, beating their opponents by a combined score of 31-10. The Keggers lost the opening game of the tournament 6-5, as SAFD scored with 3.5 seconds left in regulation.

Bucks players on the Keggers were Jeff Bes, Serge Dube, Steve Weidlich, and Adam Rivet, with former Buck defensemen Paul Elliott, and Bucks staff members Matt Brayfield and Jorge Lopez. Corpus Christi's Justin Quenneville and Chris Mei, along with John Forbes (Springfield, IL) rounded out the team. The tournament team was coached by Bucks play-by-play announcer Bryan Benway, along with Beto Oliveros.

"We would like to raise as much money as possible to support WINGS of Laredo", said Bes. "All of the money that we raise from the jersey auction will stay right here and benefit Laredo breast cancer patients."

The Keggers were sponsored by 6-U Cattle Co. and Reina's Ultra Lounge.

During the Bucks January 9th "Pink in the Rink" game the team donated $10,000 to WINGS to support breast cancer research and treatment in Laredo.

"On behalf of the rest of the Bucks players, 6-U Cattle Co. and Reina's Ultra Lounge, we know this is a great cause and we love supporting the Laredo community because they always support us one hundred percent," Dube said.

WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing, Giving, Sharing) is a non-profit organization that provides top-quality, comprehensive breast cancer treatment services to uninsured and underinsured breast cancer patients. WINGS has served Central and South Texas for over nine years, and now, WINGS Laredo is the newest chapter to bring these life-saving services directly to the women and men of Laredo.

For the last two seasons the Bucks, along with Laredo Energy and Border Lease offered $5 tickets to the team's first home playoff game to benefit South Texas Food Bank, and Sacred Heart Children Home. The Bucks donated $20,000 each to South Texas Food Bank and Sacred Heart Children Home.

The Bucks announced a brand new season ticket holder referral program, which could make each fans season tickets FREE for the 2009-10 season. For every new seat that a current season ticket holder refers, they receive a 20-percent credit off of one of their seats. Bucks Season Ticket Holders can now receive a ten percent discount on their season tickets if they reserve their seats for the 2009-10, and 2010-11 campaigns. With the two-year agreement season ticket holders will receive a 10% discount each year, and can spread their payments out over 24 months.

"With the economy in the shape it's in these days we want to give our fans a chance to pay less for their tickets", said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "We have the best fans in minor league hockey, and they deserve this very much".

The Bucks also announced brand new benefits for season ticket holders, such as a FREE ticket to the 2010 CHL All-Star Game, FREE drink & food coupons (and more) included in each season ticket booklet, exclusive discounts at Laredo Bucks Corporate Partner Locations, children of season ticket holders receive a FREE membership into the Kid's Club, season ticket holders will automatically be entered into season ticket holder raffle each game, as well as FREE admission to training camp scrimmage at pre-season party, and more to come.

"Our season ticket holders are diehards and we want to make sure that they are getting more than their hard-earned money's worth", Ruskowski said. "And these new benefits are the first step towards that".

In addition to the new season ticket holder benefits, fans will still receive big savings from walk-up ticket prices, convenient payment plans, priority seating for playoffs, discounts at the team merchandise store, name plate on each seat, personal Bucks account executive, and pre and post Season parties.
