Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with Lakeside Pharmacy, unveiled the new limited edition (1,000 made) James Hiebert action figure Tuesday night. The announcement came during a second intermission press conference at game two of the Southern Conference Finals at the LEC.
Fans can receive a FREE Hiebert action figure if they bring a prescription order to Lakeside Pharmacy, or if they have an existing prescription transferred to Lakeside Pharmacy. Otherwise the action figures will be $10, with half of all of the proceeds going to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
The figure of Hiebert was made by Global Alexander Promotions, based out of Bellevue, Washington. The figure is a replica of Hiebert skating in a game, wearing the Bucks white jersey (#9), complete with an insignia autograph. They are individually numbered (1 to 1,000).
Including the playoffs Hiebert has played in 308 games as a Buck in five seasons, and was a key part to both CHL championships in 2004 and 2006. His regular season totals in Laredo are impressive, as he has tallied 245 points (85-160=245) in 238 regular season games played (fourth all-time). Hiebert has his name in the Bucks record books several times. He is third all-time in goals (85) and assists (160), and fourth all-time in points (245). Hiebert earned the nickname "Captain Crunch" thanks to his 23 game-winning goals (18 regular season, five postseason) in a Bucks uniform.
Hiebert is known as one of the most colorful and entertaining players in the league, as he was voted third best fighter pound for pound in this seasons Best of the Best poll.
"James should realize that this does not happen to everybody, and that it's a great honor to have this", said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski. "He should be very appreciative; it's a great tribute to him".
Hiebert joins Steve Simoes and Jeff Bes as the only three Bucks players to have their own action figure.
Lakeside Pharmacy is located at 2337 Endeavor Drive, right behind the LEC, and they are open Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm, and Saturday from 9am-2pm.
