
Bucks Fall 3-1 To Oklahoma City, Laredo's Five Game Win Streak Ends

LAREDO, Texas - The Laredo Bucks fell 3-1 to the Oklahoma City Blazers on Sunday night at the Laredo Entertainment Center in front of 5,250 fans. Blazers goalie Sean Connors was outstanding as he made 31 saves and ended the Bucks season high tying five game win streak. Despite the loss, the Bucks took four of six points in the three-in-three weekend. Laredo is 27-11-3 with a Southeast Division and Southern Conference best 57 points. The Bucks are home this Friday and Saturday night against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Face off both nights set for 7:30 p.m. Fans who purchase a ticket to both Friday and Saturday night's game get a free ticket to the Wednesday, February 8th game also against Rio Grande Valley. Laredo capitalized in the early going as forward Brent Cullaton was stopped on a chance in front, but defenseman Adam Rivet was there to drive in the rebound for his eleventh goal of the season and a 1-0 lead at 3:40. Late in the period the Blazers tied it when defenseman Tyler Fleck scored on a slap shot from the blue line on a power play at 17:29.
Okalahoma City carried the play in the second period, out shooting the Bucks 11-8, but neither team could score.
In the third period the Blazers capitalized on a power play chance as defenseman Joe Dustin scored on a wrist shot thru a screen at 3:23 for a 2-1 lead. Late in the game Oklahoma City sealed the win as forward Ryan Johnston scored at 17:24. FINAL SCORE Oklahoma City 3, Laredo 1.
David Lemanowicz allowed three goals on 25 shots and took the loss to fall to 11-3-1. It was his first loss on home ice; he is now 10-1-0 at the LEC. Connors was terrific in net as he stopped 31 of 32 shots and got the win to improve to 18-10-2. The Blazers were 2-8 on the power play, while Laredo was 0-8. The Bucks out shot the Blazers 32-25.
