LAREDO, TX: The Laredo Bucks, of the Central Hockey League, were defeated by the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-0.
The Laredo Bucks and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees battled once again Sunday afternoon. This was the fourteenth meeting between the two teams.
The Bucks and Bees spent most of the first half of the period in transition. Neither team would be able to light the lamp during the first period of play. The Bucks lost Neil Trimm late in the period, when Dan Gendur was called for an elbowing major. Neil Trimm would be unable to return to the game. The Bucks were awarded a 5 minute powerplay for the infraction. Laredo outshot the Bees 15-6.
The middle frame began with the Bucks on the powerplay, but the Reid Edmondson was able to score a shorthanded goal for the Bees at 1:17. Shortly after at 3:53 Brady Leavold scored an even strength goal for the Bees, giving them a 2-0 lead. Again, the Bucks outshot the Bees 14-7 in the second.
The final period of play would bring two more goals for the Bees. The Bucks would not be able to find the net, giving the Bees a 4-0 shut-out. Laredo did outshoot the Killer Bees 41-23 in the game.
The Laredo Bucks will now travel to Hidalgo to face the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Wednesday, March 9th, at 7:05pm. The Bucks will return home to play their final two regular season home games, Friday, March 9th at 7:30pm and Sunday, March 11th, at 4pm.
