The Bucks capitalized on an early power play chance. Working on a five-on-three advantage defenseman Paul Elliott fired a shot from the point that was stopped, but Bes was there to hop on the rebound and jam it in at 3:57 for a 1-0 Bucks lead. It was the 21st of the year for Bes. The Bucks controlled the first period until the last minute. With thirty seconds left in the frame Rio Grande Valley forward Nathan Rosychuk fed the puck to the slot for cutting defenseman Matt Medley who tied the game at one with a snap shot. Just 21 seconds later the Bucks turned the puck over in the slot in their own end and forward Trevor Weisgerber found Rosychuk backdoor for a slam dunk goal at 19:51, giving the Killer Bees a 2-1 lead.

In the second period the Bucks rallied. Forward Brent Cullaton tied the game when his centering pass deflected off a Rio Grande Valley defenseman and into the net at 2:26 for his 16th of the year. Late in the period Laredo went on a power play chance looking for the lead. Bes grabbed his second of the game when he scored on a bullet wrist shot high glove side into the top corner at 18:39. It was the first time in nearly a month the Bucks have scored multiple power play goals in a game, the last coming on February 3rd also against Rio Grande Valley.

In the third the Bucks survived some early Killer Bees power play chances. Late in the game Laredo put the contest away as Bes dropped a pass to forward Chris Grenville who snapped home a wrist shot off the post low glove side for his team leading 24th of the year at 14:28 and a 4-2 Bucks lead. Ladislav Kouba finished the scoring with an empty netter at 19:55 for his 19th of the season. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Rio Grande Valley 2.

Dov Grumet-Morris continued his stellar play as he stopped 32 of 34 shots and improved to 14-4-2. Evan Lindsay allowed four goals on 40 shots and fell to 19-16-3. The Bucks were 2-7 on the power play while Rio Grande Valley was 0-7. Laredo out shot Rio 41-34.
