October 17, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, Texas â The defending CHL Champion Laredo Bucks finished off the 2004-05 pre season on Sunday afternoon with an 8-0 victory over the Mexican National Ice Hockey Team in front of 3,521 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
The story of the game however wasn't the score. The story was two countries coming together with a common interest, the sport of ice hockey. Sunday capped off a three game South Texas tour for the Mexican Team that resulted in goodwill and increased the reach of hockey. The Mexican Team then tightened the defense and held the Bucks at bay for the next 12 minutes.
At 14:46 Kelman tallied again to make it 3-0 and start a Laredo scoring flurry. Just 16 seconds later forward Lennon Eriksson slapped the puck home to make it 4-0. Twelve seconds later defenseman Malcolm Hutt fired the puck into the net to make it 5-0 Bucks.
In the first period the Bucks out shot the Mexican Team 15-3.
