Brooklyn Kings News Release
After trailing the Long Island Primetime by two games with three left to play, the Brooklyn Kings capped an remarkable regular season finish by beating the Primetime 89-80 on Sunday June 18th to capture their third consecutive United States Basketball League (USBL) Eastern Division crown.
Brooklyn and Long Island played three head-to-head contests to finish the regular season with Brooklyn needing a three-game sweep to win the division since Long Island would have won the tiebreaker if they finished with the same record.
"Our backs were up against the wall. Our guys out-hustled them," said Kings coach Kenny Charles. "I like how we're playing right now. We'll be ready to go for the playoffs."
The Brooklyn Kings will be the number one seed from the East in the upcoming 2006 USBL Post Season Championship that begins Friday June 23rd in Dodge City, Kansas. Long Island will be the Eastern Division's number two seed in the post-season.
