Chicago Machine News Release
The Chicago Machine is proud to announce Brooke Crawford as Machine Camp Coordinator for its girls lacrosse camp programs.
"We're very excited to have Brooke joining the Machine family," stated Machine Head Coach, Kevin Finneran. "Her background in Women's lacrosse is tremendous. Having her as Girls' Director of the Chicago Machine Camps, Clinics and travel teams is very exciting."
Crawford grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania, where she played lacrosse at Great Valley High School and then went on to play at the Division I Collegiate level with the Tar Heels of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. While at UNC, Crawford achieved 3-time IWLCA/Brine All-American, 4-Time Southern Regional All-American, and 2-Time All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team recognition. Crawford was also voted UNC team MVP in 1999, made 2 Final Four Appearances, and 3 NCAA Tournament appearances.
Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina, Crawford joined the coaching ranks at the University of Connecticut where she was the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach in 1999 and left the position in 2001 to become an assistant coach for James Madison University's team. For the past three seasons, Crawford has been Assistant Coach to Coach Tracy Coyne of Notre Dame. Crawford was also a member of the U.S. Developmental Lacrosse Team from 1998 to 2003.
Crawford takes the position of Girls' Camp Director with the Chicago Machine after working as a camp director for the Notre Dame Girls Lacrosse Camp and two STX Camps-Lake Forest (IL) and Cincinnati (OH).
Moving out to the Midwest to take her position with Notre Dame, Crawford has witnessed the expansion of lacrosse beyond the East Coast. "The sport is growing by leaps and bounds in the Midwest, and it is fantastic to see the significant improvement in the skill level as well as the growth of opportunities in the area," states Crawford.
Crawford hopes to bring a dynamic and exciting lacrosse camp experience to those girls interested in playing lacrosse for the first time as well as those girls who want to improve the skills and knowledge they already have. "The Machine camps will be constructed with an emphasis on skill and development-encouraging the girls to be the best player they can be and teaching them new techniques to advance their quality of play," states Crawford.
An overnight camp will be offered by the Chicago Machine June 25-June 29 at Lake Forest Academy. There will also be a day camp offered from July 24 to July 29, also at the Academy.
