Broncos, Winterhawks Make Trade

Swift Current, SK---Swift Current Broncos General Manager Mark Lamb has announced the club has acquired 19 year old defenseman Travis Bobbee from the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for 20 year old defenseman Eric Doyle.

Bobbee, from Arborg Manitoba, is in his 4th WHL season. He has 2 goals and 6 assists for 8 points in 28 games with the Winterhawks this season. Last year he had 2 goals and 22 points in 66 games and over his career has 16 goals and 38 assists for 54 points in 200 games. Bobbee is a mobile defenseman listed at 5'11" and 194 pounds.

"We are pleased to acquire a player of Travis' quality. He has an excellent first pass and sees the ice very well" comments Broncos General Manager and Head Coach Mark Lamb, "in order to get a player of Travis' caliber, you have to give up a good player. Eric has been a contributor in the WHL for a long time and we wish him continued success in Portland."

Doyle leaves the Broncos as the player with the most WHL experience in playing 268 WHL games. He was originally acquired by the Broncos from Everett in 2007.

Both Bobbee and Doyle were 1st round WHL bantam picks each going 15th over-all. Bobbee was selected by Lethbridge in 2005 and Doyle by Everett in 2004.

Bobbee is scheduled to join the Broncos for their game in Brandon Friday night.
