Broncos Pitching Roughed up by Alexandria Aces in Loss

Alexandria, LA-The Laredo Broncos bats could not help the pitching staff in their 19-4 loss to the Alexandria Aces on Wednesday Night . The Broncos continue their 3 game series with the Alexandria Aces with the finale on Thursday night. For more info call (956)-722-BASE (2273).

The Broncos would strike first in the top of the 2nd inning. Edgard Clemente singled to start off the inning. Then with one out Ivan Reyes walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd. After a strikeout Eric Padilla hit a single scoring Clemente. Then in what looked to be a designed play Padilla took off for 2nd base and got in a run down. The minute the catcher threw the ball Reyes broke from 3rd base and scored just before Padilla was tagged out to give Laredo an early 2-0 lead.

The Broncos would tack on another run in the top of the 3rd inning. With one out Dwayne White singled. Then after an Arnoldo Ponce pop out Luany Sanchez singled. Edgard Clemente followed with a single of his own scoring White from 2nd and extending the Broncos lead to 3-0.

The Aces were being held in check by Broncos starter Julian Williams but finally broke through in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Bryan Sabatella led off with a home run his 4th of the season. Jose Umbria followed with a single. With one out, Homy Ovalles struck out by advanced to first on a drop third strike. Also on the play Umbria went to 3rd. Umbria would score on a single by Selwyn Langaigne and then Ovalles would score on a double by Patrick O'Sullivan making the score 3-3 after 3 innings.

Alexandria would grab the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning. Madison Edwards and Bryan Sabatella were walked to lead off the inning. That would chase starter Julian Williams from the game. Then Jose Umbria doubled off of reliever Dan Sausville scoring both runners. Then Home Ovalles hit a single to score Umbria to make the score 6-3 Aces with the lead.

Julian Williams went 3+ innings giving up 5 runs on 4 hits. He walked 3 batters and struck out 5.

The Aces would really open up the game in the bottom of the 5th inning. With two outs Laredo reliever Dan Sausville imploded. He walked Bryan Sabatella, Jose Umbria, and Albert Gonzalez to load the bases. He then would hit Home Ovalles with a pitch to score Sabatella. Then Selwyn Langaigne followed with a 3 run single. Then Patrick O'Sullivan would walk and that would do it for Dan Sausville. The next reliever did not do much better. He walked Palmer Karr Jr. to load the bases and then Luis Guance hit a rbi single. That was followed by a 2 run double by Madison Edwards. With runners on 2nd and 3rd Bryan Sabatella walked for the 2nd time in the inning to load the bases yet again. Jose Umbria would hit a 2 run double to finish up the scoring for the Aces. Alexandria would score 9 runs in the inning to give them a 15-3.

Edgard Clemente would get 1 run back in the top of the 6th inning with a solo home run his 6th of the season to make the score 15-4.

The Aces would get 3 more runs in the bottom of the 7th. Palmer Karr Jr. singled to start off the inning and then scored on a 2 run home run by Luis Guance his 2nd of the season. Then with one out Bryan Sabatella connected for his 2nd homer of the game to make the score 18-4 after 7 innings.

The Aces would score again in the bottom of the 8th inning. With two outs Patrick O'Sullivan was hit by a pitch. He would then advance to 3rd base on a double by Palmer Karr Jr. Then Luis Guance would single in O'Sullivan to make the score 19-4.

That would be all the scoring as the Broncos lost the middle game to the Aces by a score of 19-4. Laredo had 4 runs on 7 hits and no errors. Alexandria had 19 runs on 15 hits and no errors.

The Broncos fall to 7-7 on the season. Laredo finishes up the 9 game road trip on Thursday night at 7:05 with the last game of the 3 game series against the Alexandria Aces.
