Broncos pep rally Friday, game one on Saturday

The Broncos will open Veterans Field to the general public on Friday August 25, a day before Game 1 of the first round of the ULB playoffs to allow fans the chance to see the Broncos take batting practice and root for the Broncos!

$2 Beer and $2 Hot Dogs will be available as well as discounted Broncos souvenirs. Fans can also purchase playoff game tickets during this time, even pick the seat that they want for Saturday's game, if still available.

Fans will also be able to meet and greet the players after practice for autographs. The event is free to the public to enter.

"We want to extend an open invitation to all fans, " said GM Jose Melendez, "We want the opportunity for all of Laredo to see these pro baseball players up close if they haven't already. We cant wait to see everyone Saturday for the playoff game, making noise."

The batting practice/pep rally event will be at 7:30 PM at Veterans Field at 2211 Santa Maria Ave.

Tickets for Saturday's game are also available at the Broncos Front Office at 5411 McPherson Road #103 or over the phone by calling (956) 723-2273. Credit Cards accepted at office or over the phone but not at the stadium. Cash only at the stadium.

Ticket Prices for the playoffs remain the same as in the regular season as a "thank you" to the loyal Broncos fans. $7 for Box Seats, $6 Grandstands behind home plate and $5 General admission tickets.

Saturdays game will feature some fireworks display during big plays and home runs, stated Melendez. In game prizes and giveaways will be held throughout the game on Saturday.

The Broncos expect a 4th of July type crowd, parking is free next to Veterans Field. Additional free parking is available at the Civic Center. There is an entry through the Right Field Wall. Broncos organization will be shuttling people to the front gates if they wish to enter through the front gates.

"We urge people to buy their tickets early," Melendez stated. "We don't want to turn away fans due to a sell out, I promise you great family entertainment, food and great baseball."

Larry Van Allen, coach for the Broncos adds, "We feed off the energy of the crowd, we want to fill up the stadium and hear everyone chanting, screaming and having a good time on Saturday for the playoffs."

The gates on Saturday open at 6:30 p.m., with the game starting at 7:35 PM. The batting practice / pep rally Friday starts at 7:30 PM.

The Broncos will have a small media & players luncheon at La Posada Hotel at 3 PM. All media invited as well.

The Broncos are playing Edinburg Coyotes in the first round of the playoffs in a three game format. First game is in Laredo and the next two in Edinburg, Sunday and Monday.

Alexandria Aces and San Angelo Colts face each other in the other division.
