Bridgeport Bluefish News Release

(York, PA) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (24-32) defeated the York Revolution (31-25) 9-3 at PeoplesBank Park on Father's Day to take the rubber game of the weekend series. The Bluefish conclude their six-game, two state road trip with a record of 4-2, and have now won four consecutive series overall.

Bridgeport Starting Pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo (5-2) registered the victory, surrendering three runs on seven hits, walking four while striking out five and throwing a wild pitch in five innings of work. The right-hander threw a season-high 117 pitches, facing a total of 26 batters. York Starting Pitcher Michael Click (1-2) suffered the loss after lasting just three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on five hits, walking and striking out two.

Bridgeport got on the board quickly in the top half of the first inning, sending eight men to the plate against Click, scoring four runs on four hits. Luis Hernandez got the party started with an opposite-field double. Click was able to retire the next two batters, but Jose Cuevas stepped in and laced a run-scoring single to centerfield, plating Hernandez with the game's first run. Jonathan Galvez followed with a walk, and then Josh Vitters drove home Cuevas with an RBI single, and Anthony Giansanti completed the rally with a two-run double, and before York came to bat the 'Fish were up 4-0. York responded against Albaladejo in the home half of the first by also sending eight up to bat, scoring three runs on three hits to cut the deficit to 4-3 on an RBI single by Joel Guzman, a bases loaded free pass issued to Andres Perez, and a sacrifice fly from Michael Burgess.

Clinging to a one-run cushion, the Bluefish went to work again against Click in the top half of the fifth inning, registering their second four-run output of the afternoon as the visitors enjoyed their largest lead of the day at 8-3. Adron Chambers led off the frame with a walk, bringing up Welington Dotel, who proceeded to launch an absolute moon shot of a two-run home run over the "Arch Nemesis" in left field, which stands at 37 feet 8 inches tall (the tallest wall in professional baseball). The reigning unanimous Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Player of the Year picked up his second big fly of the season. Vitters singled and Giansanti was hit by a pitch, sending Click to the showers. Rossmel Perez finished it off with a two-run single against York reliever Mariel Checo, and Bridgeport was in command. Vitters concluded a three-hit afternoon with an RBI single in the top of the ninth, scoring Galvez who doubled with one out to make it 9-3, as the 'Fish finished with 12 hits in the victory, marking the 21st time this season in 56 games played this season in which they have registered ten or more hits in a single contest. Vitters led the offensive attack with three base knocks. Phtot provided courtesy of Randy Flaum.

The Bluefish return to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard on Monday, June 20th when they welcome in the Lancaster Barnstormers to kick off a seven-game homestand. First pitch is scheduled for 7:12 P.M. It will be Latin Heritage Night, and the first collector pin giveaway of the season will take place.
