
Bridgeport Barrage Sign Two New Players

BRIDGEPORT, CONN., June 19, 2002 â The Bridgeport Barrage, Connecticut's only professional lacrosse team and a charter member of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), today announced that they have acquired attackman Jimmy Mormile (Brown, 2002) and midfielder David Ulrich (Notre Dame, 2001) from the MLL Player Pool and have released midfielder Kevin Rooney.
Mormile, a Oceanside, NY native, was a 2002 Third Team All-American at Brown after finishing his career with 93 career points (71 goals and 22 assists). He was also a two-time All-Ivy First Team Selection as well as a two-time All-New England Selection. The 6-0 attackman led Brown in 2002 with 31 goals and six assists en route to earning New England Player of the Year honors.
Ulrich, 24, was a two-time All-American at Notre Dame where he helped lead the Fighting Irish to their first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance in 2001. He finished his collegiate career with 187 points (76 goals and 111 assists). Ulrich is the all-time assist leader at Notre Dame.
Bridgeport has also released midfielder Kevin Rooney (NYIT, 2001) back into the MLL Player Pool. Rooney, 24, had only appeared in the Barrage season opening loss at Long Island. The Barrage originally drafted him in the third round of the 2002 Supplemental Draft.
Bridgeport will resume play on Friday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. when they face the Baltimore Bayhawks at Dunning Field at Hawes Plaza in New Canaan, Conn. The Barrage will then travel to Baltimore on Saturday, June 22 to face the Bayhawks at Ravens Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
