
Bridgeport Barrage Select Eight Players in 2003 MLL Supplemental Draft

(Bridgeport, Conn. March 26, 2003) - The Bridgeport Barrage, Connecticut's only professional lacrosse team and a charter member of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), announced today that they have selected eight players in the 2003 MLL Supplemental Draft.
The Barrage used the first overall selection in the draft to pick midfielder Paul Rao (Hofstra, 2002). Rao started all 14 games for Hofstra in 2002 while scoring 16 goals and four assists. He was also second on the team with 68 ground balls. In 2002, he was a STX/USILA Honorable Mention All-American.
The Barrage then made the following selections from rounds two through eight: Round 2: Nick Carlson (Limestone, 2002), Round 3: Tim Knowles (Duke, 1999), Round 4: Evan LaPenna (Hofstra, 2002), Round 5: Chris Rogler (Hofstra, 1999), Round 6: John Flandina (Notre Dame, 2002), Round 7: Ron Jedlicka (Delaware, 1999) and Round 7: Peter Muller (NYIT, 2002).
Carlson, was a two-time Division II First Team All-American led NYIT at the attack position in 2002 with 72 points and 31 assists. Knowles, a Third-Team All-American at Duke, was a member of the US National Lacrosse Team that won the Lacrosse World Championships in Australia in 2002. LaPenna, a teammate of Rao, started 13 games on the defensive line for Hofstra in 2002 while garnering second team Colonial Athletic Association honors. Rogler was acquired by the Barrage in the seventh round (#37) in the 2002 MLL Supplemental Draft and later released after appearing in two games for Bridgeport. Flandina led Notre Dame with 25 points (10 goals/15 assists) in 2002 while earning First Team Great Western Lacrosse League honors. Jedlicka was a Second Team All-America East selection in 1999 between the pipes with Delaware. Muller was a First Team All-American midfielder with NYIT in 2002.
