
Bridgeport Barrage Acquire Goalie Justin Cynar and Defenseman Billy St. George

BRIDGEPORT, CONN., July 1, 2002 â The Bridgeport Barrage, Connecticut's only professional lacrosse team and a charter member of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), today announced that they have acquired goalie Justin Cynar (Cornell, 2002) and defenseman Billy St. George (Syracuse, 2002) from the Baltimore Bayhawks in exchange for goalie Tim McGeeney (Loyola, 1995) and the Barrage fourth-round selection in the 2003 MLL Collegiate Draft. The Barrage also released attackman Joe Brock (NY Tech, 1998), defenseman Jed Raymond (Middlebury, 2000) and midfielder Chris Rogler (Hofstra, 1999).
Cynar, 22, did not appear in any games for the Bayhawks this season. He was drafted in the second round (12th overall) in the 2002 MLL Collegiate Draft. He was a Second Team All-American at Cornell this year after posting a career-low 6.98 goals against average. He helped lead Cornell to 11 wins (most since 1987) and their first NCAA Quarterfinal since 1988. Cynar was a four-year starter at Cornell and was also a 2001 Honorable Mention All-American.
St. George, a 21-year-old defenseman, did not appear in any games for the Bayhawks. He was drafted by the Bayhawks in the third round (18th overall) in the 2002 MLL Collegiate Draft. He was an Honorable Mention All-American at Syracuse in 2001 and 2002. He collected 58 ground balls during his senior seasonin 2002 when he helped lead Syracuse to the NCAA Chanmpionship.
Bridgeport will resume play on Saturday, July 6 at 7:00 p.m. when they face the New Jersey Pride Harbor Yard. The Barrage will look to avenge a 12-7 loss at New Jersey earlier in the season.
