
Breakers Fall to Sacramento, 25-18

NEWPORT BEACH -- The Newport Beach Breakers missed a chance to move into sole possession of first place in the World Team Tennis Western Conference on Monday night as they fell to the Sacramento Capitals, 25-18 at The Tennis Club Newport Beach.
Lester Cook, who had won four consecutive singles matches coming into Monday, fell in the night's final match to Dusan Vemic, 5-4 (5-3 in the tiebreaker).
The Capitals won each of the five matches contested on the night, led by two Southern Californians, Long Beach native Vania King and former UCLA All-American Riza Zalameda. The pair teamed to beat Marie-Eve Pelletier and Julie Ditty 5-3 in women doubles.
For the Breakers (3-3) it was their fourth match in five nights as they travel to Sacramento to face the Capitals (3-3) for the fourth time this season tonight. The Breakers opened the season with two wins over Sacramento.

Women's Singles - Vania King (S) def. Julie Ditty (NB), 5-3
Mixed Doubles - Dusan Vemic-Vania King (S) def. Lester Cook/Marie-Eve Pelletier (NB), 5-4 (5-4 tiebreaker)
Women's Doubles - Vania King-Riza Zalameda (S) def. Marie-Eve Pelletier/Julie Ditty (NB), 5-3
Men's Singles - Dusan Vemic (S) def. Lester Cook (NB), 5-4 (5-3 tiebreaker)
Final: Sacramento 25, Newport Beach Breakers 18
