Two of the top 15 teams in the world face off today at 4 p.m. ET when Brazil and Spain take to the field at Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
The South Americans come into the contest ranked No. 7 in the FIFA Women's Rankings and on the heels of their 2-0 victory Tuesday over Korea Republic that was their seventh-consecutive win in the group stage of the World Cup.
Brazil has not lost in the group stage of the tournament since 1995 in Sweden and posted an 11-0-2 record during that phase over the last five tournaments.
Boston Breakers midfielder Rafaela came on for a brief cameo as a substitute for Andressa Alves in the match against Korea Republic, entering the game in the 90+1 minute as she made her international debut for Brazil.
And while the South Americans enjoy nothing but success in the group stage of the World Cup for the past 16 years, Brazil coach Vadao will know that he has a challenge on his hands Saturday when his side face Spain.
The Europeans enter match ranked No. 14 in the world and features two former NWSL players in Veronica Boquete and Vicky Losada.
Boquete, the Spanish captain, was a sensation during her one season in the league - notching four goals and six assists in 15 appearances with Portland Thorns FC during the 2014 NWSL season. She was named Player of the Week on three occasions last season en route to earning a place on the 2014 NWSL Best XI.
Losada was also honored as NWSL Player of the Week once last season and the former Western New York Flash forward scored her fourth international goal to help Spain to a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica in the opening match of the tournament for both teams.
