Gwinnett Stripers News Release
Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves rallied for a 5-3 win over the Buffalo Bisons Tuesday at The Diamond. The Braves scored three runs in the seventh inning to earn their first come from behind win of the season.
The Braves scored first for the fifth straight game, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Scott Spiezio. That lead held until the seventh when the Bisons Andy Gonzalez clubbed a two-run homer to put Buffalo in front. But the Braves answered right back in the home half. Wes Timmons singled a run home to tie the game. Josh Anderson's RBI single gave the Braves a 3-2 lead. Brent Lillibridge capped the rally by chasing a run home with a ground ball. The Braves added a run in the eighth on an RBI single by Clint Sammons. Bran Snyder homered in the ninth for the Bisons to cap the scoring.
Jeff Ridgway picked up the win. Rich Rundles took the loss. Braves starter Jo-Jo Reyes tossed five shutout innings, striking out six and allowing just one hit. Sammons and Joe Borchard had two hits each for the Braves.
The Braves and Bisons meet again at The Diamond Wednesday at 7 PM. Buddy Carlyle will pitch for the Braves against Aaron Laffey.
