Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO - Orlando Predators wide receiver Brandon Thompkins has been named the Under Armour Offensive Player of Week 5 for his performance in the team's 76-56 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators.
Thompkins (5-10, 185, Arkansas State) was nearly unstoppable in Cleveland, finishing the game with a team-record seven total touchdowns. He found the end zone three times in the first quarter and five times in the first half. In total, Thompkins hauled in nine receptions for 123 yards and five touchdowns while adding a two-yard rushing touchdown. He also returned a kickoff 56 yards for another score.
The last Orlando Predators player to score seven touchdowns in a game was AFL Hall of Famer Barry Wagner, who accomplished the feat against Connecticut in 1995.
Through five games this season, Thompkins has recorded 1,173 all-purpose yards and is on pace to finish with 3,753 yards, which would break the single-season record of 3,708 set by P.J. Berry of the New Orleans VooDoo in 2011. Thompkins is on pace to achieve the feat in 16 games, while Berry set his record in 18 contests.
The Predators return to the Amway Center in Week 6 to battle the Arizona Rattlers (5-0) in a matchup of the Arena Football League's last undefeated teams on Saturday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Tickets are available for purchase by calling 407-355-2200 or online at OrlandoPredators.com.
