TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm is pleased to announce that wide receiver and kick returner Mike Washington, has earned the AFL Highlight of The Week for his performance in the Storm's 33-27 loss to the Jacksonville Sharks.
AFL Highlight of the Week: Washington (5-foot-8, 180 lbs., Hawaii) played his first game in the blue and gold this past Sunday and made an immediate impact. "The Joystick," as he is known throughout the League, joined the team via trade with the Arizona Rattlers earlier in the week and was looking to leave a lasting impression on the fans. The five-year veteran made an immediate impact on the game, returning the opening kickoff 58 yards for the score. His kickoff return ties the single-game high for a kickoff return this season.
Washington finished the night with six returns for 108 yards and a touchdown. He also saw action on offense, catching four passes for 65 yards. Washington led all players in all-purpose yards with 173.
This is Washington's first weekly AFL award this season.
