Brandon Robinson Named NBL Canada All-Star MVP

(HALIFAX, NS) Durham s team the Oshawa Power were well represented at the inaugural NBL Canada All-Star Game this afternoon with four players participating, but it was small forward Brandon Robinson who stole the show at the Metro Centre.

Robinson led team Haywood to a 164-155 win with a game-high 38-point performance, which included six straight three point field goals. He was simply sizzling from outside and also pleased the crowd with several athletic dunks throughout the game.

"Winning MVP of anything is a really great feeling, but winning the honour among players as talented as those we saw here today is extra special," said Robinson.

Participating in All-Star Weekend was a great opportunity for me."

Earlier in the day Robinson was named the NBL Canada Rookie of the Year during the NBL Canada All-Star Breakfast.

Robinson led the NBL Canada in scoring averaging 19.9 points per game, and elevated his game to a new level during the Power s push for the post season. During the last 16 games of the year Robinson posted an average of 26.4 points per game over that stretch.

The rest of the Power players also performed well in the All-Star game. League number one overall draft pick Morgan Lewis gave the crowd a couple highlight dunks during the All-Star game finishing with 16 points. Tut Ruach and Omari Johnson also played well in the game in which defense was mostly an afterthought, much to the delight of the 2,603 fans in attendance.

All-NBL Canada accolades were given out at the All-Star breakfast as well where Robinson and Johnson were both selected Second Team All-NBL Canada.

The Power now turn their attention to the offseason as they ll look to lock up some of their key players and begin preparation for the second NBL Canada Combine and Draft.
