Bozeman Icedogs News Release
After two thrilling victories last weekend against the Blizzard and Bulls, the ICEDOGS embarked on their final major road trip of the season last night. This week's series of games against the Tornado and Wildcats could be the toughest of the season, and help the team guage what their chances really are of a league title.
The 'DOGS will play the Wildcats on Thursday and Friday and then travel to Frisco to challenge the Tornado on Saturday and Sunday. The next home game is next Friday, March 10th, against the North Iowa Outlaws.
Spotlight On #28 Ryan Bunger
Q: Tell us a little about your playing background. A: I started skating at age five at the Kings Gate Ice Arena in Kirkland, Washington. I quickly moved from the learn to skate class to the mites hockey league where I played travel hockey for the Seattle Snowkings. I played with the Snowkings until my second year of midgets. The Washington Totems Midget AAA team was formed that season and I played for them for two years before heading to the WHL. After I was released from the WHL, the Bozeman coaches gave me a call and invited me out here and I have loved it for three years.
Q: What is your favorite playing career memory so far? A: When we sell out the Ice Garden and the fans are in the game. There is nothing that can top that experience.
Q: How do you prepare for a game? A: I get up and eat a bagel and some toast on my way to the rink. After the morning skate I head home, play some Tiger Woods Golf and then take a nap. Around four I cook some pasta and chicken for a pre-game meal, then head to the rink. When I get there I put my sweats on, check my sticks and then just hang out for a bit. I try to relax and visualize the game in my head as I get dressed. Everything goes on from right to left, and then it's game time.
Q: What are your plans after you are done playing juniors? A: I hopefully will get a scholarship to play NCAA Division I, but if not then I am undecided about what I will do. I have thought about hanging around Bozeman and looking for things to do, but as of right now, I still hoping to go to college.
Q: What do you like best about Bozeman? A: Bozeman is awesome and there are so many things to do. It's a small town with great people and tons of outdoor activities. I love to fish and go gopher hunting, and I ski when I get the chance. I also live with the best billets, Grandma and Grandpa, with Chris McKelvie. They spoil us so it makes life real easy.
