Bourcier Resigns, Bibeau Recalled
November 11, 2010 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - The Lewiston MAINEiacs have announced a pair of moves within the organization. First, Reg Bourcier has resigned from his positions as the team's goaltending coach and strength and conditioning coach. Second, goaltender Antoine Bibeau has been recalled from the Trois-Rivieres Estacades of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League.
2010-11 was Reg Bourcier's third season as a member of the Lewiston MAINEiacs' organization, serving as the team's goaltending coach, as well as the strength and conditioning coach. Prior to joining the MAINEiacs, Bourcier had junior experience, as he played for the OHL's Belleville Bulls and Kitchener Rangers from 1997-2000. He then spent parts of two seasons playing with three different ECHL teams, before finishing his playing career with the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds.
Peter Delmas, Adrien Lemay, and Nicholas Champion are three of the many goaltenders that Bourcier worked with in Lewiston. "A lot of good goaltenders have come through Lewiston, and [Bourcier] shares in the credit for that success," said MAINEiacs' Managing Consultant and Governor Bill Schurman.
Delmas and Lemay are both currently playing in the CHL, with Delmas suiting up for the Wichita Thunder, and Lemay stopping pucks for the Allen Americans. Delmas and Champion both attended training camp with the Montreal Canadiens this past fall.
"Reg was in a situation where he had just started a new business, while also welcoming a new baby into his family, so that was where his mind was focused," said MAINEiacs' General Manager Roger Shannon.
Schurman added to his earlier comment, by saying, "We would like to thank Reg for his hard work and dedication to the organization." He also mentioned, "We will be working with the hockey operations staff to find a replacement." Shannon echoed those sentiments, stating, "It would be ideal to find somebody local that is qualified."
On the ice, 16-year old Antoine Bibeau has been recalled for the second time this season. In 12 appearances with Trois-Rivieres, Bibeau has gone 6-3-1, with a 3.02 goals against average, and a .906 save percentage.
