Boston Pride News Release
The Boston Pride have added another strong forward to an already deep roster with the signing of Emily Fluke, who last season was the captain of the Connecticut Whale and an NWHL All-Star.
"The coaching staff and I are delighted to have Emily join our team," said Boston general manager Karilyn Pilch. "She has been a fan favorite and a standout player the last two seasons in the NWHL, and we are lucky to have a player with her experience become a member of the Pride. Emily is a tough player who will elevate the physicality of our team, and help us compete for the Isobel Cup."
In 32 regular season games between 2017-2019 with the Whale, Fluke scored 7 goals and added 15 assists for 22 points. She also scored a goal in Connecticut's playoff game on the road against the Riveters in March.
At Middlebury College, she was honored in her senior season in 2015 as a CCM First-Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association, the New England Hockey Writers Association's Division II-III Women's Player of the Year and the NESCAC Player of the Year. That season, she led the conference with 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points in 28 games. For her collegiate career, she was 54-61-115 in 109 games.
In Boston, Fluke works in private wealth management for First Republic Bank. Playing for the city's NWHL team is a perfect situation for her.
"I'm ecstatic to be joining the Boston Pride," said Fluke. "I grew up in Massachusetts and have been a huge Boston sports fan my entire life, so getting to play for one of our city's professional teams is an incredible feeling. I am really looking forward to playing more games in front of my family and friends, and I know they are really excited to be able to attend more games this year.
"I also wanted to give my heartfelt thanks to the entire Connecticut Whale organization and to the fans of the Whale. I am incredibly grateful for everything over the past two seasons."
The Pride play their home opener at Warrior Ice Arena this Saturday, Oct. 12 at 6:30 p.m. against the Beauts, and the rematch is on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are available now at www.NWHL.zone/tickets.
