
Boston Cannons to Hold Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday

BOSTON, MA - Wednesday, August 6, 2008 - The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) today announced the activities scheduled for Fan Appreciation Night at the seventh and final home game of their 2008 schedule against the Denver Outlaws at Harvard Stadium, set for Saturday, August 9 at 7:00 PM, according to Cannons Vice President and General Manager Mark Kastrud.
As part of Saturday night's festivities, the Cannons will hold Fan Appreciation Night where various prizes will be awarded to fans, the 2008 Cannons Team Awards will be presented, WBCN 104.1 FM will entertain fans with a local band on the WBCN Stage in the Cannons Fan Zone courtyard area, the Cannons will give away the seventh sheet of the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Cannons trading card set, the Cannons and Brine will give away brand new lacrosse balls, Qdoba will offer their Qdoba 16 Goal Bonanza promotion during the game and the Cannons will host a post-game party at Tommy Doyle's Irish Pub and Restaurant in Harvard Square.
On Saturday night, the Cannons will hold Fan Appreciation Night for all of the dedicated Cannons fans who have supported the team this season. Fans will have the opportunity to win great Cannons prizes such as autographed helmets, autographed cleats, Warrior and Brine equipment, etc. All Cannons Season Ticket Holders are automatically entered in the drawings that will occur throughout the game, while any other fan who wishes to enter may do so on Saturday at the "Enter-to-Win" table in the Cannons Fan Zone courtyard.
At halftime on Saturday night, the Cannons will announce the winners of the 2008 Cannons Team Awards, and recognize them with their awards during an on-field presentation. Cannons MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, 11th man and Rookie of the Year will be awarded. In addition, this season a brand-new "Fan Favorite of the Year" award, chosen entirely by fans on BOSTONCANNONS.COM, will be presented.
WBCN 104.1 will bring a Boston-area band and the runners-up in the annual WBCN Battle of the High School Bands competition, Jessica Prouty Band, to perform from approximately 5:00 - 7:00 PM on the WBCN Stage in the Cannons Fan Zone courtyard area, between the Murr Center and Bright Hockey Center. The first 2,000 fans in attendance on Saturday night will receive the last of seven Cannons player trading card sets. One sheet is given out at each of the Cannons' seven home games this season. The seventh sheet of four Cannons trading cards features defenseman Colin Hulme, midfielder Paul Rabil, Head Coach Bill Daye and a special edition collegiate draft series card of rookie midfielder Chris Eck.
The first 2,500 fans in attendance on Saturday will receive the night's exclusive giveaway, a Brine lacrosse ball, featuring the Brine logo.
If the Cannons score 16 goals or more, Qdoba will give free chips and queso to all Cannons fans who show their ticket stub at participating Qdoba restaurants as part of the Qdoba 16 Goal Bonanza.
Following Saturday night's game, fans are invited to meet their favorite Cannons players, coaches and dance team members at Tommy Doyle's Irish Pub and Restaurant in Harvard Square (96 Winthrop Street, Cambridge, MA, 617-864-0655) during the team's post-game party.
