Boston Cannons 2020 Season Update

April 3, 2020 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Boston Cannons News Release

Right now, our world is experiencing an unprecedented situation as we face a global pandemic. I, along with the other Major League Lacrosse team presidents and league executives, have been closely monitoring the development of COVID-19 and its impact on our world.

As the scheduled season opener draws closer, it has become clear that opening our season on May 30 could put the health and safety of our players, fans and employees at risk. Today, Major League Lacrosse elected to suspend the start of the 2020 season. This decision was made to safeguard the health of our players, fans and staff, as well as those within the Boston and greater-MLL communities as a result of the global pandemic.

Major League Lacrosse and the Boston Cannons have been vigilant in coordinating with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as federal, state and local officials to determine the protocols that will allow us to begin our season in the safest manner possible. We are carefully following their recommendations so that we can ensure the well-being of all MLL communities.

We are grateful to all our fans for their support, and we extend our thoughts to those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 virus.

The Cannons look forward to returning to Veterans Memorial Stadium for our monumental 20th season! We will keep our website and social media up to date with any changes or developments to the 2020 season. Please don't hesitate to contact us at info@bostoncannons.com with any questions.
