BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLEWINGS TRAINING CAMP UPDATE- FRIDAY MARCH 21
BOSSIER CITY, LA (March 21, 2008)- For many of the Bossier-Shreveport BattleWings, Christmas came early Wednesday at the CenturyTel Center during a scrimmage against the Arkansas Twisters. For the first time since the 2008 training camp began, the BattleWings had an opportunity to hit somebody aside from their own teammates. Not only was it a welcome relief from the monotonous grind of camp, it also allowed the players to gauge themselves against a team from their own division.
The BattleWings coaching staff will also use the scrimmage to evaluate the team, as they are less than two weeks away from the season opener versus the Central Valley Coyotes on March 29th at the CenturyTel Center. BattleWings head coach Jon Norris stated "There was a lot of good intense work today. It provided us with a large amount of video we can evaluate and use to improve all of our individual and group performances."
Steve Panella, af2's 2007 International Player of the Year, made an appearance near the conclusion of the controlled scrimmage after a twenty-two hour trek from Ontario, Canada. Norris said, "Panella was wearing his luggage under his eyes" but expects him to participate in practice today at Independence Stadium at 6:00 PM.
