
Boom Squad, Motorcycles Return as BlueCats Host In-State Rival Fort Wayne Freedom

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats (3-7) will welcome the Fort Wayne Freedom (3-7) to Roberts Stadium this Saturday night in a crucial UIF East Division match up for both teams. Evansville enters this game coming off a dramatic last second loss against the Bloomington Extreme (5-5) a week ago when the BlueCats lost on a 40-yard field goal with 0:04 seconds to go in the game. Fort Wayne enters the game on a 7 game losing streak, most recently falling 52-29 to the Ohio Valley Greyhounds (5-5) last week. In the first meeting between Evansville and Fort Wayne this season, the BlueCats defeated the Freedom in Fort Wayne 33-31 on a spectacular 46-yard field goal by kicker Ton-Ton Luzayadio as time expired.
Evansville BlueCats Head Coach John Hart said, "We expect it to be another great game between these two teams on Saturday night. Our guys are fired up and I know Coach Pifer will have his guys ready to play."
Saturday's game against the Fort Wayne Freedom is sponsored by Fifth Third Bank. Saturday's game is also Labor Union night. Members of local labor unions will be admitted free with their union card. To claim your free ticket, present you union card at the Ticketmaster box office at Roberts Stadium on the day of the game to pick up a complimentary ticket.
This week against Bloomington, the Harley Davidson motorcycles from ABATE of Indiana - Region 8 will return to Roberts Stadium. They will be on hand and participate in the BlueCats pre-game ceremonies.
Back by popular demand, the New Hope Music Academy Boom Squad will return as the feature halftime entertainment.
The Gus Doerner Charity football toss will once again be taking place at halftime. Before the game and during the first half of all 2006 home games, fans can purchase footballs to be "tossed" at targets on the field during halftime for a chance to win prizes from Gus Doerner sports. Kickoff on Saturday will be at 7:05pm. Escape from the humid Evansville summer evenings and enjoy an indoor football game in the air conditioned, insect free comfort of Roberts Stadium! The gates at Roberts Stadium will open at 6pm. The BlueCats invite fans to show up early and tailgate with your fellow fans. The first 1,000 fans that enter the gates will receive a free chip clip from Fifth Third Bank, along with free game programs and Evansville BlueCats Spirit Signs.
