Tennessee Valley Raptors News Release

HUNTSVILLE, AL - Tennessee Valley Vipers wide receiver/linebacker, Ronald Bonner, is expected to miss three to four weeks with a broken fibula bone just below his left knee. The play happened in the third quarter of last Saturday night's game with Mobile. Bonner had caught four passes for 45 yards and one touchdown in two games. He is currently second on the Vipers all-time list in career receptions with 97, second in career receiving yards with 1,232 and second in career touchdown receptions with 20.

Offensive/Defensive lineman, Chris Bell, will have arthroscopy surgery today on his left knee. He was also injured last Saturday night. Bell joined the team last week and was in his first game with the Vipers. He is expected to miss one game.

Curtis Jeter injured his right knee but is expected to play this week against Macon.

To make up for the loss of Bonner, former Viper Calvin Hall, will rejoin the team this week. He had planned to join the team this summer after he finished teaching school in Nashville. He played in seven regular season games last year and caught 11 passes for 148 yards and three touchdowns. He also recorded 15 tackles, one interception, two pass break ups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In the Vipers two playoff games, he caught eight passes for 126 yards and three touchdowns and recorded seven tackles, one interception and one pass break up. The interception was returned for a touchdown against Tallahassee.

The Vipers were also assigned Brad Jefferson. He has spent the last two seasons with the Vipers but did not sign this season because his mother has been ill in Virginia. He has been one the Vipers best offensive lineman over the past two seasons. In two seasons he has tallied 22 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, two pass break ups and one safety.

The Vipers travel to Macon this weekend for match-up with the 3-0 Knights. They return home on May 4 for a rematch with the Arkansas Twisters. Tickets are available at the Von Braun Center Box Office or by calling the Vipers front office at (256) 551-3240.
