RICHMOND, VAâThe Atlanta Braves today optioned Jung Keun Bong to Richmond to make room on their 25-man roster for left-handed pitcher Kent Mercker, acquired Tuesday from Cincinnati.
After going 7-8 with a 3.25 ERA for Greenville in 2002, Bong earned a roster spot out of spring training this season posting a 6-2 record with 4.67 ERA (52 IP, 53H, 27R, 27 ER, 28 BB, 47K).
Richmond meets Durham tonight in a 7:00 p.m. game at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The contest can be heard on the radio beginning at 6:45 p.m.
