Bombers Win 4-3 in 13 Innings, Play in Danville Tuesday

Dubois County Bombers News Release

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - Dalton Rouleau scurried home on a wild pitch in the thirteenth inning, and the Dubois County Bombers snapped a three-game losing skid as they knocked off the Terre Haute Rex 4-3 in thirteen innings at League Stadium.

Ty Simpson earned the win, needing only six pitches as he worked a clean top of the thirteenth, his only inning.

Clay Manering took the loss for Terre Haute. He had blown the save in the twelfth inning on Landon Curry's two-out single that knocked in Cody Daily and then walked the leadoff man (Rouleau) in the thirteenth before being lifted two pitches into his at bat versus Tyler Brake.

Reliever Josh Dove intentionally walked Brake and allowed an infield single to Jeff Zahn before his second pitch to Daily bounced past catcher Nate Bowles and allowed Rouleau to score.

It was a close game throughout.

Bombers catcher Kolin Conner doubled Zahn home in the second to put the Bombers ahead before the Rex took advantage of some poor Dubois County defense in the sixth to take the lead.

Terre Haute scored a pair in that inning - one unearned - and held a 2-1 lead until the eighth, when Conner's two-out infield single drove Zahn home yet again, itself an unearned run.

The score remained locked at 2 before the teams traded two-out runs in the twelfth.

Both starters pitched threw seven innings.

William Robinson allowed one earned run on six hits and four walks while striking out three for the Rex.

Dubois County's Spencer Sapp also surrendered six hits, but he gave up two runs (one earned). He struck out two and walked two.

John Oltman relieved Robinson and retired only one Bomber, and the Bombers' unearned eighth-inning run was charged to him.

Kurt Kudrecki threw a scoreless eighth for Dubois County, and Nick Green followed with four innings of one-run ball, his lone blemish occurring in the twelfth.

Nick Blount retired the final two Bombers of the eighth and worked a scoreless ninth, tenth and eleventh for Terre Haute.

Manering appeared next, entering in the twelfth after Terre Haute had taken a 3-2 lead, and Dubois County took advantage.

The Bombers have the day off tomorrow and then head to Danville Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Dans. This game marks the return of Bombers internet broadcasting; fans can listen in at http://www.teamline.cc/sportpage?teamcode=2944&eventcode=5.
