
Bombers Sweep Marshals with 7-1 Win

The Brazos Valley Bombers took down the Texas Marshals 7-1 on Sunday night in Dallas to complete a two-game series sweep. Tyler Nurdin picked up the win for the Bombers as he allowed just one run on six hits in 5.2 innings with four walks and four strikeouts.
Grady Caldwell hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Bombers out in front 3-0.
Mason Mantle walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning to score Carlos Vargas who had doubled to lead off the frame, making the score 3-1.
A solo home run to left field by Logan Nottebrok gave the Bombers a 4-1 lead in the top of the third.
The Bombers then scored three in the top of the sixth to move ahead 7-1 on back-to-back RBI doubles by Caldwell and Kolby Carpenter and an RBI single by Robbie Rojas.
Ross Vance took the loss for the Marshals as he allowed all seven runs in the game. He gave up nine hits and struck out seven in six innings.
Jake Smith tossed three scoreless innings to finish the game for the Marshals. He gave up just two hits and three walks and struck out two.
With the loss the Marshals fall to 16-31 on the season and 8-12 in the second-half. The Bombers remain in first place at 34-12 overall and 12-6 in the second-half.
The Marshals will have Monday off before traveling to Kilgore to take on the East Texas Pump Jacks in a two-game series on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at Driller Park.
