Dubois County Bombers News Release

HUNTINGBURG, Ind. - Gentryville native Ty Simpson pitched seven innings of two-run ball as the Dubois County Bombers beat the Danville Dans Friday night at League Stadium in Huntingburg, Ind.

Simpson allowed two hits and one walk while striking out 10, and only one of the runs he allowed was earned as he recorded his third win.

Nick Smart pitched the final two innings to notch his third save, offsetting the single hit he surrendered with two strikeouts.

The Dans jumped out to a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and third innings before the Bombers scored one run in the bottom of the third and three in the fifth.

Trevor Fitts took the loss for Danville, allowing four earned runs on six hits and two walks through five innings. He struck out three.

Offensively, Bo Ausmus led the way for Dubois County; his two-run single in the fifth turned the 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 Bombers lead.

A large crowd of 751 was on hand to watch the game as it was Hedinger Beverage Night at League Stadium.

The Bombers improved to 5-3 in the second half and are half a game behind the Terre Haute Rex, who lead the Western Division with a 5-2 record. Danville dropped to 3-5.

The two teams clash again in Danville Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
